Tanzania’s President to host East African Presidents
Tanzanian President John Magufuli will host East African Community (EAC) member states Presidents for a special summit this Thursday, 8th September
South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir will be making his maiden appearance with the world’s youngest nation having just formally become a member of the community. Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, Rwanda’s Paul Kagame and Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza will be attending.
“Now that they (South Sudan) have taken this step further (Joining the EAC officially), the Secretariat will seek guidance from the EA Council of Ministers on developing a detailed roadmap for integrating the Republic of South Sudan into ongoing EAC projects and programs,” said EAC Secretary General Ambassador Liberat Mfumukeko, adding that the leadership in Juba will be informed on every step taken in that regard according to the Daily News
