The Management of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) invites suitable qualified Tanzanians to apply for positions of Tutorial Assistants (TA’s) (<35 yrs of age) and Assistant Lecturers (<45 years). Applicants are advised to note that the minimum GPA of 3.8 or an average of B for unclassified degrees such as that of Veterinary and Medical graduates at undergraduate level applies for TA’s and 3.5 at BSc/BA level or equivalent (i.e. an average of B for Veterinary and Medical graduates) and a good Master degree is applicable for those with postgraduate qualifications. Only registered Veterinarians will be considered for interviews.

Applicants are advised to note that salary packages and fringe benefits shall be as per Treasury Registrar’s Circular No. 2 of 2014, which is applicable at the moment.

The deadline for submission of application letters indicating names and addresses of three referees, together with certified copies of certificates and transcripts, curriculum vitae and testimonials shall be two weeks after the date of the first advertisement. A. TUTORIAL ASSISTANT (6 POSITIONS)

1. DEPARTMENT OF SOIL SCIENCE

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Soil Survey/ Pedology/ Land Evaluation for applicants in possession of a BSc in Soil Science/Agronomy/Agriculture General/Horticulture. Applicants should have a very good pass of grades “A” or “B+” in either Soil Classification and Land Resource Inventory or Agricultural Land Use Planning. Qualifications in Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System (GIS) and Principles of Land Use Planning (including Land Evaluation) will be an added advantage.

2. DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SCIENCE AND PRODUCTION

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Dairy Science for applicants in possession of a BSc. in Animal Science with a score of at least B+ in Dairy Cattle Management and Milk Processing courses.

3. DEPARTMENT OF CROP SCIENCE AND PRODUCTION

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Botany for applicants in possession of a BSc. in Botany/ Agriculture General/ Horticulture/ Agronomy/ Forestry.

4. DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATICS

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Artificial Intelligence for candidates in possession of a BSc. in Informatics/Information Systems/ Information Technology/Computer Science / Computer Engineering and Information Technology and related fields. The candidate must demonstrate adequate coverage of the relevant courses for each specialty.

Competence in computer programming in low-level and high-level programming languages is a compulsory requirement. A post graduate research experience in the same field and/or good working experience in academic and/or research institution will be an added advantage.

5. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY SURGERY AND THERIOGENOLOGY

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Veterinary Theriogenology for applicants in possession of a BVM/BVSc from a recognised Institution with an overall minimum average of “B” grade or higher at Bachelor level.

6. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PATHOLOGY

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) for applicants in possession of a BVM/BVSc degree from a recognised Institution. The applicant must have an overall minimum score of “B” or above for all subjects. In addition must have an average of “B” or above in Veterinary Pathology courses.

B. ASSISTANT LECTURERS/ LIBRARIAN (12 POSITIONS)

1. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING AND LAND PLANNING

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Farm Machinery and Mechanization for applicants in possession of a BSc in Electro – Mechanical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/Agricultural Engineering or related field and a MSc in the areas related to Farm Machinery and Mechanization/ Agricultural Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering. Those working in the industry are encouraged to apply.

2. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND AGRIBUSINESS

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Business Management for applicants in possession of a Bachelors degree in business related disciplines including Agribusiness/ Marketing/ Finance/ Accounting/ Human Resource Management/ Business Management; and a Masters degree in Business and Management related disciplines majoring in Human Resource Management/International Business Management/ Banking and Finance/ Accounting and Finance/ Entrepreneurship.

3. DEPARTMENT OF FOREST MENSURATION AND MANAGEMENT

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Forest Resource Assessment in the fields of Forest Mensuration, GIS and Remote Sensing for applicants in possession of a BSc Forestry and MSc. in Forestry Mensuration and Management/ Forestry Resource Assessment and Management and/or related field.

4. DEPARTMENT OF BIOMETRY AND MATHEMATICS

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Complex and/or Functional Analysis for applicants in possession of a BSc and MSc. degree in Mathematics or related fields with a score of at least B+ in the discipline of Complex and/or Functional Analysis.

5. DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Foreign Languages (English, French and Spanish) for applicants in possession of a BA and a MA specializing in either of the two languages English, French or Spanish languages.

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Food and Beverages Management for applicants in possession of Bachelor and Master degree in Hotel Management or related fields.

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Law for applicants in possession of a LLB and LLM majoring in Tourism, Business or other related disciplines.

Assistant Lecturer (1Post) in the discipline of Information and Communication Technology for applicants in possession of a Bachelor and Master degree in Computer Engineering/ Information Technology / Computer Science/ Information Systems/ Informatics or related fields.

6. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY MICROBIOLOGY AND PARASITOLOGY

Assistant Lecturer (1 Posts) in the discipline of Veterinary Microbiology for applicants in possession of a BVM/BVSc degree and MSc in Veterinary Microbiology from a recognised Institution and who has an overall of “B” grade or above for BVM and should in addition have scored “B” grade or above in Veterinary Microbiology at Undergraduate.

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Veterinary Immunology for applicants in possession of a BVM degree and MVM/MVSc/MSc in Veterinary Immunology from a recognised Institution and who have an overall “B” grade or higher at Bachelor degree and should in addition have scored “B” grade or above in Immunology.

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Veterinary Parasitology for applicants in possession of a BVM degree and MVM/MVSc/MSc in Veterinary Parasitology from a recognised Institution and who have an overall “B” grade or higher at Bachelor degree and should in addition have scored “B” grade or above in Parasitology. Working experience of at least three years in the same or related field will be an added advantage.

7. SOKOINE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL LIBRARY
Assistant Librarian (1 Post) for applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree in any field and a Master degree in Librarianship/ Information Studies/ Information Science/ Information and Communication Technology/ Information Technology. The knowledge of cataloguing and classification will be an added advantage.
